An Exhortation from the Pastoral Epistles
The Apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to two Pastors that he personally instructed, loved, and planted churches with. We have the privilege, through the preservation of God's Word, to read these wonderful exhortations from the beloved Apostle. God desired these letters to be used to instruct and equip future shepherds. Pastor Jeff Johnson has pastored for over 45 years, and has taught the Word of God extensively book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, and verse-by-verse. He wrote this commentary from the perspective of a shepherd, with a heart for future pastors. Each book (1st & 2nd Timothy and Titus) will incorporate commentary, helpful illustrations, and detailed application. Pastoral Epistles was written to equip you for the calling God has placed upon your life to feed His sheep.
Did you know that you are in a battle right now while you are reading these words? It may not seem that way, but God tells us we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces and darkness. We are in a war with Satan and his army, but God does not send us out without armor:
We are more than equipped to handle the enemy. This study will help you understand the different parts of your armor and how they play a role in the battle against Satan.
Whether we like it or not, we are at war! There is no neutral ground, and everyone in the world is on one side or the other. The day we receive Christ as our Savior, Satan becomes our enemy. Although the Bible promises victory, far too many Christians are being overwhelmed and defeated because they do not understand the nature of the enemy, the battle or the power that we have in Christ.
